Carnegie Museum Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, presents the Carnegie Mineralogical award to individuals or groups who make outstanding contributions in mineralogical conservation. It was established in 1987 by the Hillman Foundation Inc. The prizes for the award winners are a bronze medallion, award certificate, and $3000 in cash.
Recipients are presented with prizes at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. Eligible candidates for the award include publications, institutions such as museums and universities, and individuals including mineral collectors, curators, and educators. The award has existed for about thirty-five years awarding outstanding intellectuals over the years; however, in 2020, due to COVID-19, the award presentation was held virtually.
