Joel A. Bartsch, a Houston, Texas resident, has worked in natural sciences and history for over 40 years. At the beginning of his career, Joel Bartsch served as an assistant to the director and a curatorial assistant at the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum, renamed as Mines Museum of Earth Science.
The Mines Museum of Earth Science offers visitors the chance to visit the rich geological finds of Colorado. It also offers community members the chance to volunteer in two ways. Those interested in volunteering can work in the office in a few capacities. People with administrative skills, data entry, retail, and collections, among other skills, are always needed.
People can also volunteer by becoming a Friend of the Mines Museum. Through the Friends of the Mines Museum, volunteer members get 20 percent discounts at the Mines Stores, the opportunity to participate in annual field trips and lecture series, and access to the newsletter and special events. In return, members need only promote the museum through hosting events.
